Being a lover of slice of life animes and movies, this movie was amazing for me! The animation was absolutely beautiful, and I loved seeing the scenes, as they were very realistic, and extremely beautiful, always depicting the milky way in the night sky and making the scene look very serene and ethereal! I loved the background music as well, as it was made up of peaceful-sounding tracks that fitted very well in the scenes as well. The characters also had contrasting personalities as well, as there was a soft-spoken girl in the first part, yet a more tomboyish girl in the second part, so it was nice seeing the movie depict two opposite girls! The way the movie depicts those two girls are also amazing, as they, again, looked very realistic, and the person who drew these characters has made them very pretty as well! I enjoyed this movie overall, however, the end was slightly ambiguous, making the audience like me wonder what really happens later, so it was slightly unsatisfying. Other than the incomplete end, I found the whole movie completely entrancing, even including details that happen in real life, like the delaying of trains because of weather conditions. Since some animes I have watched only depict good things that happen to the protagonists in the story, it was nice seeing that the director managed to include situations that could happen in real life. I recommend this movie to anyone who loves good background music, beautiful, nature-filled scenes, romance stories, love triangles, and a slice of life story! Overall, 5 Centimeters Per Second is an amazing movie!
