Summary:
Battle Programmer Shirase, also known as BPS, is a free programmer with super hacking abilities who doesn't work for money. What he does work for is certainly something that only people like him would appreciate. But, his demeanor certainly doesn't suit the jobs he is hired for. With the evil King of America causing trouble via the internet, Shirase is nothing but busy as each new adventure brings even more interesting people into the picture. (Source: AnimeNewsNetwork.com)
One of the tendencies for animes with a subject matter that is not set in some far off fantasy realm, but set in a more mundane location is exaggeration. The main character is often light years ahead of his competitors in the beginning and all too often is designed as if he is the epitome of "God Mode." While flashy techniques and super powers are amazing, they often leave me with the sense that the leading role doesn't have any real challenges until later in the plot. This anime features a main character with unique abilities, but his prowess is kept within a reasonable margin so that his exploits don't feel "Cheap."
Other than this stylistic difference, the cast of characters are very unique and engaging. The story is short, but sweet. Lots of awkward situations occur which aren't all that funny. The way the characters react to them, however is comedy gold.
It's a good, short anime which draws you into the world of BPS for just a little while. Long enough for you to fall in love with all the major characters. Lot's of ecchi and some slight loli undertones but (and this is the ONLY time I will say this) it doesn't take away from the anime too much.
