With such an interesting premise, Blue Gender is initially a decent watch. A terminally ill man is placed into suspension to sleep away the years until a cure is found. Two decades later he awakes to find himself in a world that has been ruined and ravaged by an alien species that is consuming the planet, and everything on it, forcing mankind to abandon Earth and live on series of space stations in high orbit. Not an entirely unique idea and numerous similar series come to mind. The series helps itself by showing the difference a person raised in peace, against those raised in never ending war.

Blue Gender starts to weave an interesting, however, the show loses itself half way down the line, to the point where I couldn't finish watching it, and I wasted some of my download total. Since I haven't finished the series (I got as far as episode 18 of 26) I can't review the finale, which does subtract from the effectiveness of the review. The finale might make up for the lacklustre middle episodes, and the complete chance of the main character's personality. He goes from being a relational individual, to macho soldier in an improbable time frame, with very little on screen development.

In summery, the show starts of well rounded but quickly loses distinction as it pushes aside one of the only things that makes it stand out. If you like science fiction shows with sides of desperate battles against extinction, as I myself do, then the show might peak your interest, but don't expect it to be held for long. it is almost as if the show loses interest in itself around the middle and starts to mill around like a lost cow trying to find a resolution.
