A beautiful bright anime filled with comedy, action and a touch of school life and romance. As mentioned in the title the second season of Dog Days was recently announced however the release date is still unknown.
A wonderfully happy anime that easily captures the viewers attention. The main character is not your average student (watch the first episode and you'll understand) who is whisked into another world. He is surprisingly quick to adapt to his surroundings though he's your average male character who is honest, bright, strong and has high morals.
The voice actors in the anime were definitely an upside. Tetsuya Kakihara, Yui Horie, Daisuke Ono and Mamoru Miyano. The pile of favourite voice actors was unbelievable. At the moment there is no English dub but considering its popularity there's a possibility for one in the later future.
The soundtrack is average not being too great or really bad. There are a couple of insert songs done by Yui Horie and the opening credits song's not too bad.
The animation tends to stay away from the serious dark parts of anime retaining a bright aura the whole way through. Its bright so the scenes are mostly easy to follow. There was one fight scene they did during the night where the lighting and camera shots made it hard to make out what was happening but other than that one scene everything else was pretty easy to follow.
Its definitely an anime that the younger audience would be interested in. However that doesn't mean that its no good for other ages the action provides entertainment for action lovers and it also provides a sense of adventure in this innocent like fantasy world where war is more like a game show. The comedy is not tear-jerking nor is the romance all that big but the themes of giving it you're all and bonds of friendship are present. If you enjoyed it there's also a short manga version of it (1 volume exactly) and also four volumes of the light novel not to mention the next season coming out at a later date.
