Well by now i think i can safely assume that the big majority of Manga and Animé fans are familiar with Dragon Ball. As far as i can remember, the original series of Dragon Ball Z included over 200 episodes during which a lot of talking, reminiscing and other semi relevant things took place. Sometimes, the whole talking thing became a little irritating and boring but in my opinion it help the viewer develop stronger "bonds" and a bigger affection for every character. In this 100 episodes remake of Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Kai, you get a lot less talking and the story advances amazingly fast. The storyline stayed the same and well, the drawings aren't that different to the old ones. In my opinion, they could have enhanced the effects of energy balls and different spells but anyhow, i guess they have to remain faithful to the original version. Either way, this time, you get a more intense story but first time viewers will not get as attached to the characters as they would have had they watched Dragon Ball Z.

I believe part of the reason why they re-did Dragon Ball Z instead of Dragon Ball is because they still want people to watch the first series so that they do get this feeling of attachment to each character so i would advise new viewers who want the real Dragon Ball experience to do so. Otherwise, this version of dragon ball is just as great as any to start walking the road to dragon ball fan-hood! For me, it is amazing to watch since it reminded me why i got into Japanimation in the first place.

So all in all, i would like to recommend this to all of those who are fans in the first place, but also to those who are not familiar with dragon ball series.
