pros
+ nice creativity/imagination
+ based partly on asian literature (journey of the west)
+ characters are fun to watch grow up... if you don't think too much (and it could be helpful to know the characters from another db)
cons
- weak in dialogue
- repetitive storyline
- nothing but fighting....

conclusion: okay now, i wouldn't state this as a remake as it's nothing quite like the original series. dbz was a reigning one in the 90s, but... perhaps it's too old for me to enjoy it, perhaps it's something else. the story is quite repetitive, and while it's fun to watch the charas grow up, there's nothing like depth behind it. there's other action animes filled with an actual storyline and better character development (take ruroken, or bleach if you want something younger -- the problem with the latter was the fillers!!). it's easy to like due to some mindless fun, but if you pull out your critical side, it's not quite easy to love. weak dialogue, the storyline gets repetitive, and when action overpowers the storyline, it isn't quite as good anymore. i would recommend this to action-loving kids, and it's easy to see why this drew so many viewers in back in its time; but for older and more critical viewers, i think it'd just be too simple to love.

peace.
