I'll admit it. When I first started watching the show, I thought I was going to drop it. At first the characters annoyed the hell out of me. I gave it a chance, and boy am I glad that I did. This was one of the most pleasant surprises that I have had.

That story was really good. While the overall plot is good, it was what happened along the way, that I loved. Most animes that I watch are the series that range around 12 and 24 episodes. So relativley this was a long series, since it is twice as long. While I have watched a few series of this length, they kind of bored me in the middle of the series. A lot of them just drag in the middle. It's like they are really trying to stretch the show to certain amount of episodes. In Eureka Seven, it didn't seem to do that at all. Some may argue, but I honestly enjoyed all of it. Even the filler episodes were enjoyable. One thing that did bug me was the terminology. Scub corals? That just sounds stupid, and I felt like moaning every time I heard them say it.

What I believed to be the thing the show was lacking the most, was the characters. After a while the characters did improve, but right at the beginning they were nearly unbearable. Everybody was just a jerk. One character could just ask a simple question, and the other character would verbally attack them for it. It was unnecessary, and got irritating. Renton is one the most dense characters I've seen, but he gets a little better like the others. The way I see it, that makes them more believable characters. Do real people say the right things all the time? Sometimes people even get irritated at that their friends. The characters, are not necessarily bad. They just have emotions, and have dumb moments like we all do.

This show had pretty good animation. While everything was animated nicely, had great colors, and all that jazz, the character designs are what really grasped me. Everybody in the show really stood out from each other, and looked cool. The show really had it's own style. While its style was different, it wasn't too different that it looked unusual.

I really loved this shows soundtrack. As I'm typing this, I'm listening to the music right now. I usually just hate it when a show changes it's OP and ED throughout the show. Typically I never like the new songs as much as the first one. Not in this show. I loved all of them. The background music was nearly perfect for the show. It set a perfect mood for each scene. When they first flew into space, the music helped make that scene super awesome! It is one of the few soundtracks that I want to actually listen to the background music. Other shows have good background music, but typically they are only good when watching the scene. Usually the music isn't something that I would listen to while driving in my car. A pleasant surprise was when I heard some trance and techno music a few times, and it's just perfect for a sci-fi series like this. I love that kind of music, but I don't hear it too often in shows.
