Could be better...deserves a sequel

Personally after watching Seikon no Qwaser II i have some doubts of watching another ecchi series since i was expecting that it will just be another fan service, more ecchi and little to do with the actual story and characters. I was surprise that Freezing actually has a good and promising storyline and interesting characters. The story started up quite simple: aliens called Nova are invading earth and using their "Freezing" ability makes them hard to kill by ordinary means the only line of defense are genetically enhance girls called Pandora and their male "Limiters." For some reason instead of focusing on the "Nova threat" the anime centers around the relationship between the female lead, "Satellizer" and her limiter, "Kazuya," which isn't bad since it establishes their personalities and roles in the series. The show reminds me a bit of Claymore & Mai-Otome (though both are far superior in terms of animation and characterization) since each female has their own unique "titles" based on their skills or personality and some were given a bit of history as well. However, i found the "school-life" scene to be too long and most of the fights were actually between Pandora's. I also find it a bit ridiculous that the reason why the 3rd year students wants to fight Satellizer is because she manage to beat one of their own without even investigating why the fight actually started in the first place! Though the idea that this is not your typical military school where higher level student can antagonize lower level without being reprimanded may sound entertaining however at the same time it makes the scene shallow and unrealistic. The fights are also a bit flashy and we hardly see any real movements being executed though i must admit the tore limbs, blood and gore made it realistic and the exposure of breast makes for a good fan service. What redeems this series are the last few episode of the series where we can see how much of a threat the Nova can be, there is also hints of a conspiracy surrounding the Pandora project, as well the as mystery surrounding the "Holy corpse" which is the source of Pandora's power. All in all the series provides number of interesting characters, decent fights scenes, right amount of ecchi and a well balance plot with a bit of mystery that makes you crave for a possible sequel.
