Summary: Tohru Honda is 16 year old orphaned girl who gets invited to live in the house of her classmate, the handsome boy Sohma Yuki, and his cousins, 16 year old Kyo and 27 year old Shigure. However, these young men and parts of the rest of their family (both close and distant) hold a curse; if they are hugged by the opposite gender, they transform into animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Everyday is an adventure for sweet Tohru, as she gets to know everyone in the large family better (especially Yuki and Kyo), in both common and bizarre situations. But, the Sohma Family curse is certainly no laughing matter... it also holds horrible cruelity and heartbreak.

I'm not normally one for shoujo anime, but I think that Fruits Basket it an enjoyable must for fans who want to watch something that's heart warming, thought provoking, incredibly sweet and offers a slice of life.
Whilst the artwork is old style, it's very appealing to the eye. It also has a lovely little soundtrack, plus one of the nicest opening themes you could ask for.
The wise range of characters makes there a lot for this show to offer, as you take a look into their lives and find reasons to both laugh and cry and you will.
it's a very touching, very lovely story.
The only fault that anyone will find will be the fact that the ending leaves a lot to be explained. Apparently at the time, there was a fight between the seiyu actors and they had to cut the series short. And out of a 23 volume manga, the show covers about the first 7. So if you want to find out what happens next and in some cases, what really happened, I suggest you hunt them down.
But the show itself offers enough to be thoroughlly enjoyed and definately leaves you curious to find out more.
