Summary: Two brothers lose their mother to an incurable disease. With the power of "alchemy", they use taboo knowledge to resurrect her. The process fails, and as a toll for using this type of alchemy, the older brother, Edward Elric loses his left leg while the younger brother, Alphonse Elric loses his entire body. To save his brother, Edward sacrifices his right arm and is able to affix his brother's soul to a suit of armor. With the help of a family friend, Edward receives metal limbs - "automail" - to replace his lost ones. With that, Edward vows to search for the Philosopher's Stone to return the brothers to their original bodies, even if it means becoming a "State Alchemist", one who uses his/her alchemy for the military.

This series is the perfect combination of drama, action, and comedy. They never add too much drama or action to bore you, and whenever they want to be funny, they are hilarious. The plot is suspenseful and really amazing. I've only watched up to episode 20 and am already hooked. This anime isn't as action packed as most, such as Naruto or Bleach. Unlike those series, this one doesn't depend on how cool the battles are (even though the battles are pretty awesome). Don't get me wrong though, I'm a huge fan of Bleach, but after the first arc, it suddenly lost it's amazing plot. For now, this series hasn't done so. This one cares about it's plot greatly, and slowly lets you understand just what is going on. I really like how each Homunculus is based on a sin, such as Lust, Gluttony, and Greed; Gluttony being the freakiest for now o.O
Well, anyway, I would recommend this anime to any person who enjoys anime, unless all they want to watch are huge, world destroying (and rather pointless) fights, in which case you should just watch Naruto or Dbz ._.
