Summary:
Naruto Shippuuden is the continuation of the original animated TV series Naruto. The story revolves around an older and slightly more matured Uzumaki Naruto and his quest to save his friend Uchiha Sasuke from the grips of the snake-like Shinobi, Orochimaru. After 2 and a half years Naruto finally returns to his village of Konoha, and sets about putting his ambitions to work, though it will not be easy, as He has amassed a few (more dangerous) enemies, in the likes of the shinobi organization; Akatsuki.
I had high hopes that Shippuden would go back to the roots of the first 135 episodes of Naruto. I had hopes that the main character would be different by the time we see him in this series.
I believe three years has past between Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. Plenty of time to grow, right? I was disappointed and wrong. While perhaps a growth in some power, he still hasn't grown at all in maturity and the show pretty much followed the exact same pattern as the first one, except this time they added TONS of flashbacks to the first series along with the filler to make it all seem like they had more story to tell!
While the growth of the rest of the entire village has been interesting enough to keep my attention, I am bored again.
I would have gladly skipped Naruto all together had I know they would flashback so often that I wouldn't miss anything deemed important. This inflated the good parts to 180 episodes, so far. After that it's off to filler land again... has been so up to date (Dec 1 2010).
