Highly recommend watching.
Although I never saw the original anime I was equally entertain nonetheless. From my perspective (Die hard Samurai/Ninja fan) I loved it! Couldn't of been better.
Beware Spoiler below:
I disliked how it ended. No offence but the boss fight was unoriginal, but throughout the whole film each fighter had such unique character that it completely cancels out any negative feedback. Honestly it couldn't have been better.
