Summary: The story begins in 1629 Shizuoka during Tokugawa Tadanaga's rule. The daimyo staged a tournament where the participants fought with real steel Japanese swords rather than bokken ("wooden sword"), against his vassals' strong objection. The story revolves around the first match between the one-armed swordsman Fujiki Gennosuke and the blind samurai Irako Seigen and deals with the circumstances that led the two to participate in Tokugawa's tournament.

This can be a good anime...

Even though this level of blood and gore in an anime is not my cup of tea, it does have excellent animation, amazing story, and engaging dialogue. If you are one of those who do not enjoy an excessive amounts of blood and gore in their anime, then this probably isn't the one for you; otherwise this is actually a great anime, and I would recommended it to anyone who has the stomach to watch this through till the end.
