Summary:
Keima Katsuragi is an avid galge gamer known at his school as "Otamega" (a derogatory term combining the words Otaku and Megane) and on the internet a "The Capturing God." One day he receives an e-mail offering him a contract to "capture" girls. He accepts thinking it's a challenge and a demon from Hell named Elsee appears. She asks for his help in capturing runaway spirits that are hiding in "real" girls. He refuses stating he only like the girls from the game and she tells him that if he refuses then both of their heads will be cut off.
It is a pity that you can't evaluate the idea of an anime, because there this one excelled.
However, there were quite some problems I encountered watching this. Let's start with the animation: It is really good, in some scenes even awesome and artistic. Nothing to bemoan concerning this aspect.
Unfortunately that were my positive aspects about this anime. It is highly repetitive bordering being boring. At the beginning I thought: wow they may make a parody of all those cliché used in anime and manga. That would have been funny AND interesting. At some points they certainly tried to do that. It is a pity though that they fell back to those cliché whenever a story "arc" was completed...
Moreover I am missing a greater combining story line. There is nothing that does progress in the fisrt season. Neither the protagonist seems to mature or develop, nor is this pact with hell (besides theses demones are frighteningly friendly...) going anywhere. In fact it isn't really spoken about after the first episode.
To sum it up: This anime is humorous at some times, had a lot of promise concerning its founding idea and shows all this in a really good style. However it is just too repetitive and lacks any connecting plot. In my opinion if you wanted to see something funny as well as something that might touch your heart at some points: Stick to sth like Kaichou wa Maid-sama.
