Not Your Usual 'Put-a-Boy-in-a-Fighting-Machine-and-He-Becomes-a-Hero' tale

Having watched the latest episode to date (no. 10), I have a better idea of where this story is going. At first I was reluctant to watch the series because it seemed, on the surface, to be the same ol' cliche 'School Boy Steps into Fighting-Machine and Becomes Everyone's Hero' seen in numerous Manga/Anime, but I took the plunge and found myself interested in the direction of the story anyway.

In space, a neutral/non-military country finds itself under attack suddenly from a well-known military Country, with the students of a particular school thrown into the centre of it. During battle, the school module is detatched from the Whole. There is a definite undercurrent of warning as the story progresses, repeatedly vocalised by the first unlikely student-turned-hero who steps into a Valvrave, the Fighting-Machine, in an effort to save those he cares about. But it is typically ignored as other students, driven by their own demons, give themselves over to the remaining Valvrave, one by one, in order to fight off the continued onslaught.

Separated from the rest of their people, the students begin to find ways of governing themselves. Throw into the mix the unknown quantity of a dangerous turncoat with his own unkowable agenda, a state secret the unsuspecting students could never has guessed, not to mention the mystery surrounding the true consequences of using a Valvrave, and you wont be able to stop watching either!

This story has a rather dark side and is not really suitable for people under sixteen...
