This anime may seem as an eyesore at first but once you go through the meaning behind those random backgrounds and stuff, it it really well done, i feel sorry for those who wouldn't or couldn't fully understand the purpose and meaning behind those random background pop-ups because if you can't you won't be able to fully appreciate this anime. But the main reason think this anime is decent is because of their dialogue like the one between koyomi and hitagi at the park(spoiler alert! =O), meh just kidding not gonna spoil it for you guys. I think before people watch this they should be warned that there will be long winding conversations. If you listen everything to the end then you probably would figure it out. Its probably something simple made difficult, but then if it is written as it is then this show would lose its quirks.
This show features a lot of Japanese word games, or whatever you call it. But if you can't Japanese then its fine since the subs and dialogs provide explanation on what they're talking about. But it would be more fun if you can understand Japanese and hear everything yourself instead of relying subtitles. More Japanese viewer orientated, but that shouldn't stop you from watching it.
Its one of those animes with weird winding storylines and dialogs. Its not something filled to the brim with comedy and/or action. More like a smart novel you would probably try for an interesting (or curious) read.
Give it a try, download a couple of episodes from the top. Even if you turn up not liking it, you won't regret giving it a try. (show less)

Bakemonogatari isn't like anything you have ever seen. It's a fantastic storyline of the normal laced with integrated supernatural with a collection of unique characters and the goings on of their daily lives.
The artwork and presentation is a mixture of real life and animation and it's very artistic indeed.
But for this show, you have to be a lover of conversation. There are a few episodes that are no more than 2 people sat side by side and talking for the entire time. The conversations however, if given the time and patience are amusing, intelligent and very bizarre and I found it a pleasure simply being able to hear the things that they talked about and how.
I found it a very interesting show, in some ways thought provoking and both sweet and very sad in parts.
12 episodes that are definately worth giving a try and an experience that is well worth the time.
It won't be for everyone, but if you can take the chance, you may be very pleasantly surprised. (show less)

Well when I was beginning to watch this it hurt my head. I didn't know what kind of anime I was getting myself into. The bright colors were pretty trippy. I was beginning to be influenced that this anime was inspired by Ookami or We Love Katamari. But as I soon came to find out that it was more of a reading anime than it was an action anime. The story was fairly decent later on in the anime. The first few episodes were hard for me to get into. Especially the one with the snail. The Dialogue... well lets just say that they talk alot. That's why I gave it a good. Because if you don't understand Japanese lingo then you probably won't understand a thing they said. Also they flash a lot of screens at you with Kanji and expect you to read it within the first 4 seconds before it goes back to the animation. The animation was excellent. It was different than most. It was very bright. The entertainment was good. The reason why I chose good was because it took me a while to get into it. Earlier episodes seems like a hassle to watch. Maybe it was because I didn't know what I was getting myself to watch. I recommend this anime to people who Japanese word play. I would stay away from this anime if you don't like to read subtitles a lot. (show less)

At first I thought this anime was kind of weird, like most people would, and up till the end it still was but once I realized I shouldn't try to compare this with other series, I saw that it was good in its own style.

Each character's background story is good and mysteries. It takes a while before you fully understand what's going on. It's a detail but I liked how they changed the intro depending on the arc.

Bakemonogatari's trumpcard is its dialogues. Sometimes they're a bit fast, maybe a bit complicated but they're usually interesting and even funny.

This show uses some weird animation and frankly I don't really like it but it probably fits the story. Some images are nothing but one collor and some text. Even fotographs are used.

I had to get used to it but I liked this anime though I hated how I had to wait for some episodes but that's mainly my own fault. (show less)

Story (4/5) : If you liked Arakawa Under The Bridge, you'll probably gonna like this. Same art (though this one is better in graphic quality), a normal guy and a wierd+beautiful girl. It uses supernatural events to advance the story and a lot of dialogue. the first two episodes contain ecchi parts (pants shot, breast covered with long hair, etc)

Dialogue (5/5) : It's the point of this anime, a lot of dialogue, if you like this kind of anime, watch this.

Animation (4/5) : It uses some wierd animation that makes it look bad but good at the same time, I don't know how to explain it. If we compare it to Arakawa Under The Bridge, they use more details here, but they keep the same art.

Entertainment (4/5) : Some parts are boring, others are very funny and great. (show less)
