This anime had a lot of potential but by the mid-point in the series (when the character of Victor is introduced) the pacing goes completely amok.

I am not sure the reason why, but maybe there was a budget problem or ratings problem to cause this.

The first half of the series is paced well, we are introduced to the main characters and initial antagonists and the story arc is sometimes slow but overall on par with most animes. Typical flashback and back stories abound before, during, and after important fights and developments.

However once Victor is introduced in the story things start moving very fast. Too fast. New characters appear and very little is given to their back stories (I personally don't mind that part as most anime's overkill on this aspect where I want more action). What really irked me was that special abilities or the Buso Renkins themselves are then thrown around without much care.

Not to spoil the story but the supreme leader's special ability looks cool and all but it was never given time to develop. Neither was the stories of the Regiment, Victor, or the reason why the Buso Renkins are numbered, and so much more.

In my opinion this series was cut too short, it should have been two seasons with the first season ending with the appearance of Victor and the second season with more development on him, the Regiment, and the main character's own dilemma and his relationship with all the above.

It was a good time killer but because of the pacing problems, it will not be very memorable and I will most likely never give it the time of day again.
