In the future, personal computers have developed into "Persocons", mobile computers that look like human beings. Hideki Motosuwa, a prep school student, desperately wants to buy a Persocon but cannot afford to. One day he finds a Persocon that has been thrown away and decides to keep it. When he turns on the Persocon, all she can say is "Chii" so he decides to name her that. After a while it starts to become apparent that Chii is more than an average Persocon. Having much better performance, it seems that Chii might be a "Chobit", a type of advanced Persocon rumored to have independent thought. |

This anime sparked a whole sub-genre and I've found that its heirs tend to be better. The Animation isn't spectacular. The characters are cliche and barely show growth. The plot is interesting but is drawn out far longer than it needs to be.

I found that this anime was surprisingly deep and touching. A young man finds a "persacon" or personal robot, Chi, in the trash and takes her in. Along the way she has to relearn the ways of the world. It has hilarious moments and great dialogue, but the mystery surrounding Chi's memories and background is what makes this anime great. It's not boring and it's a well-written story about love and what love means.

Chobits has been recommended to me several times by my anime (dare I say otaku?) friends and I've finally gotten around to viewing it. I found the premise very interesting and being a sucker for romance, it really hit the spot!
Chobits explores aspects of romance that not everyone will agree with and requires you to keep an open mind at times... so although on a personal level I didn't always agree with the characters actions I did thoroughly enjoy the anime as a whole.

Technically the anime is quite well done and seemed to improve as the series progressed. Artwork was clean and somewhat simplistic with nicely-drawn, slightly more detailed backgrounds. I enjoyed the OP and ED pieces especially after realizing it was the main japanese VA for Chi singing them all. And speaking of VA, I found myself gravitating toward the English dub and I'll tell you why - it has my favourite English VA of all time, Bridget Hoffman, as the voice of Chitose Hibiya the apartment manager!
Chobits is a sweet tale of a romance where in the end the characters must decide on whether it's better to suffer the pains of being together or being apart... enjoy! ( show less)

This amine is one of the best in my person opinion. It's funny with its moments and the romance is just cute. Chobits has a really unique story line that I enjoyed as the main character stumbles upon something he wanted and how he's life changes as he studies to get into university.

Chobits is one of the cutest anime i've ever seen, of course, basically because of the main character the story is also nice and i really love it's ending. this anime simply shows how love conquers all no matter what your differences are.

I had originally seen the reviews for this series and how it had alot of positive feedback, so I decided to give it a shot. I was expecting a nice. easy-watching slice of life romace which proved correct to some degree. However, what I did not expect, and was shocked to find, was a deeper story with many commentaries on life and love. I was expecting a nice. easy-watching slice of life romace which proved correct to some degree. However, what I did not expect, and was shocked to find, was a deeper story with many commentaries on life and love. The story is pretty well done with nice easy episodes usually revolving around the main Persicom (a humanoid computer system) Chi learning how to live life and her owner, Motosua dealing with the many problems that arise due to Chi's innocence and misunderstandings. The setting is nice with a laid back, lighthearted feel for the most part, although it does get a bit ecchi from time to time. (not all that bad though not H.O.T.D. or Freezing which i do like btw, although sadly they both stop prematurely) The characters are actually one of the most interesting parts. They all start off as typical slice of life characters, the awkward main, the relyable friend, the aloof genious, etc. However, as the story progresses their past problems and persoanl hangups unravel revealing some pretty deep problems, such as lost loves and broken relationships. The kinda bad part is that the main character, Motosua, doesn't actually develope as much as some of the side characters do. Besides realising his feelings for Chi his character is not honestly as deep as some of the side characters, although he is still very kind and is still a wonderful character overall. The episodes are interesting enough and all serve a perpose, even if it does not look like anything will come from it. The deepest and best thing the anime does, however, is provide insights into aspects of life and love, some of which I'd never really consider until now. The aspect of living in a dream with Persicoms while the interaction of humans slowly digresses is one such concept as well as what love truely is and even the concept of a soul of identity. The animation was decent enough for its time, but is not on par with say Bleach or One Piece, but still good enough to get the job done. The dialogue is decent although sometimes it does get grating (a certain annoying little pink Navi comes to mind) but the small situations that Chi gets into and her innocent reactions are always a treat. If I do have one hang-up, its the ending. Please don't misunderstand, it was good and everything ends up appropriately but it kinda ends ubruptly and without a clear explaination of what truely happened, although it could be that it is to subtle for me to catch. However, the whole series itself covers greatly for any mishaps that may be present. Chobits is a wonderful little series that provides a good feel about life and love as well as surprisingly deep commentaries on the subjects all carried out in a wonderful story. So why not jump in and see the magic of Chobits! ( show less)

this anime is one of the best anime i've ever watched. it has a good animation for 2002 anime. the character is simple but elegant, i like it! i have to read the manga 'cause the manga have a complete information and story about Chi, why is she being targeted, Chi true ability, etc. And if you watch it with your heart, you can pick a value of life...recomended for those who like IT and romance :)

I have just finished watching this show today and it was so very very enjoyable. Lovely artwork and story. Lovely characters. Very sweet music and a storyline that could so easily be a possible future which presents you with a feeling that is very touching, yet somehow unbearably sad. It's a nice look at human nature and the storyline is enough to move and capture the heart of someone as tough as myself. I now look forward to reading the manga.
