Summary: |
Riding the bus one day, Sakurakouji Sakura looks out the window to see people being burned alive with a blue fire and a boy her age who's unharmed and standing over the people.
She comes back to the site the next day and there are no corpses or evidence of any kind of murder, just a small fire. She then goes to class to find there's a new transfer student, Oogami Rei, who looks exactly like the boy she saw before and wears a black glove only on his left hand.
Oogami is a Code Breaker, one who "does not exist". He is a seemingly cold-blooded killer who follows the principle of "an eye for an eye", to "use evil against evil". Convinced that killing is not right, Sakurakouji sets out to stop him and penetrate his icy heart. |

I had high hopes for this series when it was first promoted. I looked forward to it and I enjoyed the first episode very much. I wanted to know more about this random guy that starts burning things in mysterious blue fires. I thought Sakura was going to be a cool female lead however things went down the drain. Not only did the anime decide to write its own ending different from the manga, it wrote a pretty bad ending. Things got really predictable for me. It seemed to blatantly obvious at this point that the villain of the story was an anti-hero ( read more)

I wanted to know more about this random guy that starts burning things in mysterious blue fires. I thought Sakura was going to be a cool female lead however things went down the drain. Not only did the anime decide to write its own ending different from the manga, it wrote a pretty bad ending. Things got really predictable for me. It seemed to blatantly obvious at this point that the villain of the story was an anti-hero and all the Code:Breakers had some reason to fight. I thought it was such a waste for Miki Shinichiro to voice Hitomi, the villain of the story because it was horribly executed (I mean the story horrible executed, not the voice acting). As I read the synopsis for the manga, I realize that many things were highly edited to the point the anime is only loosely based on the manga
Since so many things were edited out and new things were added, characters didn't develop fully and some characters weren't necessary to appear. The impression I get from just watching the anime is that EDEN, the organization that built the Code:breakers, is full of assholes that don't give a damn about anything. However in the manga, there's a little more to it and it goes in depth with characters. Sakura looked like a promising female lead, but she still falls into the damsel in distress category. She is in danger and unable to get out of it and Ogami Rei always has to save her. I see her character as a burden to other characters and even though she's in good spirits to provide moral support for others, it ends up being repetitive and boring dialogue that viewers do not want to hear. The end of the series dragged out and just didn't entertain. The climax wasn't that dramatic and it is assumed that things go back to normal for Sakura at least.
The animation's consistent and not too bad. They used some CG effects for special attacks. As I mentioned before, I thought it was a waste for Miki Shinichiro to voice in the series and the seiyuu cast was comprised of some well known voices. I only recommend this series to people that may have just started anime because there are a lot of similar stories out there. ( show less)

code breaker caught my attention in the beginning but the excitement died out too quickly. I found that the leading characters weren't portrayed strong enough to be able to connect to them. i wasnt following the anime too closely after episode 6, but Im still up to date with it. Its something i watch when im trying to distract myself. I really like the animation though, it represents the manga pretty closely.

It was good I. The beginning and then I started to lose interest maybe it wasboth the lead female and male charecter that got me though what kept me going were the side charecter I found more interesting. Something to watch when their nothing going.

This is another anime when I read the fall anime list I circle thinking it sounded great. The idea and what they could have done with it seemed really interesting. Of course that was where it shined cause even though it does have some good animations overall it isn't more than an average anime.
Story wise felt like it needed to be developed more let alone finished in better fashion than they did. You have ideally to me a good concept for a main character who is high school kid who is close to heartless when it comes to judging evil, love that. ( read more)

Story wise felt like it needed to be developed more let alone finished in better fashion than they did. You have ideally to me a good concept for a main character who is high school kid who is close to heartless when it comes to judging evil, love that. On the other hand you have the main girl just constantly against him trying to stop him from killing these evil people, but in a sense how she follows him makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and she becomes utterly annoying. Seriously this maybe gets a better overall score if she actually tried distancing herself or didn't always have the stupid "you can't kill them" ideal. Animation was best part about the anime. You have really nice powers and flow in the animation with those powers that make it somewhat beautiful. Entertainment to me had its moments, but outside of the annoying girl, there were times you wanted to see more fighting with powers and less "hey how are you today" conversations.
Another fall action anime and to me another underwhelming turn. There isn't an action anime from the fall I can say you need or should see. This is another anime you can put low in your anime watching queue cause there are better anime out there to watch. ( show less)

The whole idea of this Anime is great, people with special abilities seeking to eliminate evil, a corrupt government agency/ prime minister, and a rogue operative. It had everything going for it, but failed for me because of forced dialogue, a very messy disjointed plot and a villain (or was he a good guy? Still not quite sure.) that didn't quite know what he was fighting for and the reason given didn't make much sense either. It ended with a setup for a second season but I really hope that there isn't one because I'll feel obligated to watch.
