Ryuugamine Mikado is a boy who longs for the exciting life of the big city. At the invitation of his childhood friend Masaomi, he transfers to a school in Ikebukuro. Masaomi has warned him about people he doesn't want to cross in the city: a champion fighter, an informant, and a mysterious gang called "Darazu." Nervous from Masaomi's stories, Mikado witnesses an urban legend on his first day in the city, the Headless Rider astride a black motorcycle. From then on, the existence of supernatural cases and a gang called the Yellow Turbans will rise to the surface, and Ikebukuro will pushed to the breaking point.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Durarara. The story description provides only what's on the surface.
This anime has quite a few sub-plots running through it providing an amazing, twisting, entertaining ride that remains pretty fun. We follow our main character and how he comes to adjust to a new city being reunited with his childhood friend. We have a love story, or rather a few of them, all resolving in their own way. We have a bad guy that slithers his way through the story as well as his anathema.
This is a good anime and unlike so many other 1 dimensional stories, this one has several in it. Plus there is room left at the end for more....if they decide too....
Worth watching but give it a few episodes as the first few paint a disjoint story....you may need to get through that, but it's worth it if you do.
