Ghost in the Shell SAC is a great series for those who like their anime dark, not over-the-top and thrilling.

The story is broken up into Stand-Alone-Episodes (Episodes that have their own story) and Complex-Episodes (Episodes that deal with the main story, the "Laughing Man"). While the former are great one-shots with decent action and occasionaly social/technological commentary regarding the world of Ghost in the shell, the latter episodes have got immensely suspense and a great overarching storyline. The story around the Laughing man is so well extrapolated from modern-day trends, that you will start to reflect on our modern medicine, economics and politics. (show less)

This it without a doubt my favourite Anime ever! The story is amazing, all over the place at times, but it always brings it back together in the end, which makes the mindfreak worth it in the end ^^. The dialogue is very well written, has depth to it and it makes sense and is easy to follow. The animation is also top notch, with the characters being drawn and animated SO well. And rot the entertainment value, priceless! It can go from extreme happy to manic depressive in the space of 5 mins! and some of the puns and jokes are well worth the manic depressive stage.
Without a doubt a must watch for anime lovers the world over!

this series is an excellent social and political commentary on top of being superb sci-fi. Everyything seems purposeful towards driving the plot and themes and it goes without saying, you must watch season 1 (1st gig) to truly appreciate the level of thought that has gone into this adaptation. To be honest I wasn't a fan of the theatrical GitS (not the stand alone complex ones; those are all excellent) but this seems to be more faithful to the manga plotline.
This is one of those series where if you engage your mind fully when watching, the rewards are of boundless entertainment and a deep thoughtful view on our world leaving us questioning the present day and mindful of where we are potentially heading. (show less)

The TV series off innocence is a great one, stand alone complex captures a lot of the futuristic-ness of what the anime is supposed to be and is still able to seem as realistic as the present times.
-The animation is standard for what you would normally see in an anime if you compare it to the more popular ones like bleach and naruto
-The dialogue is absolutely awesome, the writers really know the roles of their characters and give them suitable lines that fit, however for people who'd rather see an action anime. This maybe the one for you but don't expect there to be...20 min of action-5 min story, this anime for most of the episodes is quite the opposite.
-The Story is quite difficult to understand if your new to this type of ''secret agent'' anime. but if your awesome you'll watch it over because it really hooks you in and it will make you want to watch it again.
-For me, it was Brilliantly Entertaining and remains a favourite. (show less)
