As with season 1, this series is an excellent social and political commentary on top of being superb sci-fi. Everyything seems purposeful towards driving the plot and themes and it goes without saying, you must watch season 1 (1st gig) to truly appreciate the level of thought that has gone into this adaptation. To be honest I wasn't a fan of the theatrical GitS (not the stand alone complex ones; those are all excellent) but this seems to be more faithful to the manga plotline.
This is one of those series where if you engage your mind fully when watching, the rewards are of boundless entertainment and a deep thoughtful view on our world leaving us questioning the present day and mindful of where we are potentially heading.
