This show is for those who like to think while they are being entertained. If you prefer watching headstrong, anything-goes, super-rich heroines with just the right amount of innocence, honesty, and tamed romance, then this show is for you. Most of the romance is implied and you don't get a lot of kisses, which is good. Instead, this show gets you thinking and it has a rarely-seen storyline, but not exactly too uncommon. It's a story about growing up with a pinch of adventure here and there. One thing leads to another. The drama heightens up gradually. It's absolutely great!

If you're like me, you can easily figure out who the husband is gonna be in this game based on the dialogue (and the Opening/Ending songs). Sometimes, you may feel like cheering for whoever your bet is, but of course since it follows a pattern you would know that cheering's for fun. The good looks of the guys involved are also for fun (even without it, it would still be okay). The romance pattern is the usual with the guys coming one at a time and their troubles/circumstances all have something to do with childhood, which can be kind of interesting if you're looking for substance.

And there's also a bit of political unrest somewhere, but it doesn't drag too long. There are some radical ideas also pointed out in the story for the fictional nation. If you like riddles and lineages, you may try to figure out which country (or countries) does it represent in the real world. The symbolism on the clothing, the twist with the religion, the struggles of the rich, and perhaps the villains as well held idealism to an extent. (show less)

There are several plots and each of them is neatly composed and well adjusted with the rest of whole story.
Political schemes are realistic (apart from beeing fictional), the action (guns, blasts, martial arts) moves with nice speed, funny episodes come just in the right places, and are indeed enjoyable.
Characters are intriguing, evolving and with not much of a sugarcoat on them - there won't be any flimsy heroines or perfect princes here (the other way round may happen though)...
Even person who ussualy finds romace boring can find it quite interesting (with a bit of good will). (show less)

Hanasakeru Seishounen is not the stereotypical shoujo with a heavily recycled heroine. Though it is romance oriented, it is very political and it is a story about growing up. The heroine of the story, Kajika Burnsworth, is a head strong girl who believes in the good in everyone and will not hesitate to take action if something is not morally right. Her father, Harry Burnsworth, challenges his daughter to a marriage game. Kajika must find out who the three suitors that her father chose and who she will choose to marry. However, this marriage game has an ulterior motive and strange ties to a distant kingdom known as Laginay.

Despite being only 14, Kajika is in fact a very mature girl though sometimes her childish behavior has her end up in bad situations. It is essentially a story of how Kajika matures into a young woman and how she learns to distinguish different forms of love. We also see other characters mature and change because of Kajika's influence. It is also a story involving politics because the kingdom of Laginay is experiencing turmoil with corruption among the chamberlains and a weak king that brings poverty and harm to his country. Kajika's appearance makes an important change with Laginay's politics and the marriage game unfolds.

This anime is a fun and exciting story. The characters are each unique and very real to the viewers. Viewers are also attracted to Kajika because her charisma often brings change to dangerous situations. The story has been well thought out with a reasonable chain of events playing out in sequence. There are friendships. There are rivalries. There are allies. There are enemies. I have to say that none of the episodes are wasting your time and the screenwriters did not drag out the story. I highly recommend this one even to people that don't typically like romance. There's really more to it. (show less)

If you're into reversed harem and you want a main female being surrounded by many cool guys then this is totally recommended. The story starts off really good with a challenge/game of finding the perfect husband for this young lady of a huge business king. Luckily she's not the typical shoujo character, she's very cool and collected, a very capable girl. Towards the end the plot gets more complicated with politics of a far away monarchy and the revelation of the girl's true identity and it gets a bit too draggy for my taste. You know that feeling when you think the main characters are too idealized? Too perfect? Yeah this anime gives off that vibe at some points. Overall, do give it a try if this is your genre.
