Summary: The protagonist is a teenage girl (Tamaki) who revisits a small village, she remembers from her childhood and gets caught up in her family's history and supernatural dangers surrounding it.

While walking along the hillsides waiting for the person who her grandmother sent to fetch Tamaki to the village, Tamaki comes across a small, white round object with sticks for limbs and talks. It runs off soon after, with Tamaki chasing after it. Soon Tamaki finds herself in a place where ‘it doesn’t feel like the world I came from’. She gets attacked by three slime creatures, and a male comes charging in to save her - by clamping his hands around her body and mouth and telling her to be quiet.

Great animation, poor story

The first thing that caught my attention with Hiiro no Kakera was the animation, it was well-done and truly eye-candy. Unfortunately, the the only thing that makes this anime pop-out everything else seems to be average and there are time were the story gets a bit frustrating most specially the fight scenes. If you love reverse harem (girls surrounded by pretty boys) then this anime may appeal to you, there is even a bit of fan service were you get to see each male character do some dialogue at the end of each episode. I had really high expectations for this anime but, I'm really critical on this one. It wasn't as good as I had anticipated it to be. My greatest criticism is the overall story. It started out pretty good with the protagonist, Tamaki, going on her quest to find out what it means to be a Tamayori princess but, I personally think the writers dragged it out too much. I didn't really like her as much as I thought I would only because Tamaki couldn't aid the other characters except cheer them on. In addition, they focused too much on giving each (read more)
