I loved this anime. The number of characters it had never diluted it cause it still only focused on a smaller group. Also Riku progressing in his demon form was great, but also they didn't overpower him like other similar anime.

Pros:
A good story of demons living in the world of humans.
Main character get stronger both in personality and in just character.
Good variety of demons which doesn't dwell on them longer than they should.

Cons:
Felt like Riku's human side was never really pushed. All his friends just felt pointless to have in there outside of 2-3 episodes. (show less)

conclusion: not something all-too original, but still worth the time. well executed storyline with action, finely done characters and most importantly frequent comedy. also, while the whole demon-thing is just overdone, nurarihyon surprises with an actual connection to japanese folklore. personally, i like the manga better -- there's a lot of small changes in the anime -- but the anime is good for what it is, easy to understand yet with the necessary humour/action to keep also older otaku in line.

I just recently started watching Nurarihyon and I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect much from it (I usually don't) but this anime rose far far above my expectations. The story itself isn't anything new - rather, it kind of reminded me of Katekyo Hitman Reborn. But nevertheless, it is well thought through and most importantly it is interesting. And what I personally liked is that it has a lot of Japanese old folk tales and myths about demons (youkai) incorporated into the story.

Dialogue is really funny and easy to follow. It is understandable and smart considering that most of the time someone is cracking jokes (which is great!). Characters are great and each is unique in its own way - but what I always expect from anime characters is that while being simply awesome, they have a dose of humor - they all had my attention throughout each episode.

Animation is at a really high level. It isn't sloppy but rather it holds a great deal of quality. There are filler episodes from time to time but they appear so rarely that you can simply forget about them. This is a great anime to watch because it isn't too demanding in terms of the story line and the number of characters. I've seen several anime in the past few months and I have to say that this one is really cool - you get high-quality entertainment along with an awesome story that doesn't blend in with the crowd. I've only watched until episode 9....and all I have to say is....The story is just like DNAngel except it's about demons and monsters....Seriously...it's really like D.N.Angel, like how by day the main character is a wuss and by night he's this powerful and handsome demon....then the boy like this girl character who fell for his handsome (demon) side.....Then there's the part where the girl really falls for his demon side when he took her out on her birthday where in DNAngel he flew with her in the night sky and somehow "woo-ed' her.....There's also the part where the main character 'Rikuo' looks like Daisuke, just with glasses....and when both of them turned into their 'demon' self...their hair seems to grow longer and change colour (no complaints there just it's a similarity)
I don't even know why I'm watching this but I'm hoping that the story might change SOMEHOW..... (show less)
