Summary: |
Hiromichi Kojima, the star batter of the Lycaons, heads to Okinawa to train and bring himself out of a slump. There, he meets Toua Tokuchi, a 134-kmph/83 mph pitcher and the undisputed king of a gambling form of baseball called "One Out." At Kojima's urging, Tokuchi signs up with the Lycaons. His contract differs form the usual, though, in that he gets 5,000,000 yen for every out he pitches, but loses 50,000,000 yen for every point he gives up. |

It is a psychological anime similar to Death Note and No Game No Life except that it doesn't have any supernatural elements in it.
It is about baseball and how the main character manages to manipulate his opponents and defeat them even when they are cheating .

Who'd have thought that a boring sport like baseball could be made to feel so interesting? But "One Outs" manages to do just that -- it merges brilliant mind-play, a devious anti-hero protagonist and suspenseful, leaves-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat games with a baseball diamond as its stage.
I've heard plenty of people claim that Toua Tokuchi (the protagonist)'s high level of intelligence and lack of an angsty, tragic back-story makes him 'boring'. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, of course; but I for one find him a refreshing change ( read more)

I've heard plenty of people claim that Toua Tokuchi (the protagonist)'s high level of intelligence and lack of an angsty, tragic back-story makes him 'boring'. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, of course; but I for one find him a refreshing change from the "lame loser with a miserable past who eventually becomes a star through determination alone (managing to win the heart of the love-of-his-life in the process)" archetype that seems to be so popular in the manga /anime medium. This guy knows exactly what he wants (money, mostly -- but I'm quite certain that he does desire victory and the thrill of battle as well) and he has the brains, skills and guts to get it. But that doesn't mean he's not a hard-worker! Certainly not! While the other players strain their physiques, he exercises his grey matter instead. Now which one is more impressive? If you think the former, then pass up on this anime; but if the latter is more to your taste, then "One Outs" is for you.
But a word of warning -- you can't expect a 100% realistic depiction of baseball here. Most of the strategies that Toua utilizes are extremely complicated, and would most likely fail if used in real life...but that's precisely what makes the story so interesting! However, the nature of the human psyche during challenging situations is explored in a very interesting and believable fashion.
My only slight complain is the animation. It was definitely not bad, but didn't quite do the story justice. Apart from that, this is as near-perfect as a sports series could get. ( show less)

There is a mistake with the no. of episodes in this anime.
there are only supposed to be 25 episodes....... That "78th" episode is an episode of ONE PIECE.

I was browsing for nice anime and found this 1.
My 1st impression was, the drawing was ok so I just check if this anime is nice or not.
Now I'm eagerly waiting for the next chapter of the manga...
I can guarantee that you’ll love the wickedness of the main character…
I cant stop myself from laughing when his evil plan was carried out…
He’s a genius…
If you are looking for a story with an outstanding story, watch this…
You wont regret donwloading this....

Battle of the mind, challenge of tactics, strenght of confidence. One Outs is one of the most beautifully conveyed psycological genre anime. Such intense train of thoughts, critical moments with chance to succeed barely flickering gets blazing with Tokuchi's lead.
He's a genius! Really thinking out of the box to overcome ever problem he encounters. The fact that he's a man of words, doing things head on regardless what people thinks of him makes him admirable despite his arragont attitude and his outrageous gambling style.
Love this anime! ( read more)

I first thought a baseball anime meh cant be the great but I was very surprised it reminded me of Hajime no Ippo and Intial D ( Which I loved). If you dont know anything about baseball just like me you soon learn plenty and realise there is more to it than you first thought and overall gave me some appreciation for the sport.
I found it quite funny ( In a intellectual way) how the opposite team falls into Toua's traps as its well thought out and like MGS which goes into loads of detail so its more believable simply just wow.

awesome anime ^^ I really enjoy sports anime but this one tops the list, it isn't about the super moves the players learn or how awesome they are physically, but how he can read and manipulate people very well. TOKUCHI!! FTW!!!
