This anime started out as kind of annoying to me as Ash repeatedly made mistakes that he should not have been able to make after traveling through more than four regions. It started to get better after a while, but now it's back to annoying. The shows writers need to come up with some more original material. I say this because so far, whenever the going has been getting good, the writers suddenly come up with yet another battle competition. It gets old after the third time within twenty episodes, and now there's another one going on. Also I don't ( read more)

She's just a stuck up brat who likes to put down others for her own amusement...and then they give her a fully evolved Dragonite.
Also, there's Georgia, the self proclaimed 'dragon buster', who can't even win one battle against the 'Main Cast'. Not to mention Paul...oh, sorry, I mean Trip. I can't really tell the difference between them. ( show less)

The animation is amazing, and the story is entertaining enough to keep you watching!
Since I find dub's grating, I would say this is best watched in Japanese.

As season 1 has been concluded and Ash has gained all eight necessary badges to enter the Isshu Pokémon League, I think it's finally time to review all 86 episodes which make out the first season. The story progresses good, and this time around the fillers seem like they still serve a point (some of them at least) making it worthwile to watch. Though it is clear that this is aimed towards a young audience, making the dialogue a bit too simple at times. The animation is really colourful, vibrant and is all in all well drawn, so nothing to really ( read more)

The gym battles are still what you look forward to the most, and they always keep you at the edge of your seat, as you know there will be a twist at the end and it is always unsure whether Ash will get his badge or not. I didn't expect it too, but when I watched a little of Best Wishes, I got hooked. The animation's improved by leaps and bounds, Team Rocket has gotten more competent, the story is a little more unpredictable, and Satoshi(Ash)'s new travelling partners Iris and Dento(Cilan) have become my new favourite characters. Though I admit I still find things to complain about very often, I admit that I like this a lot more compared to Generations III and IV. In fact, it's pretty much a tie with the good old days of Gen I.

I Love it!! The best Series! Added a lot of humour!
It seams like Ash is a rookie again... (although he has always been)
He hasn't mentioned much about the things in the previous series' though! (other than Team Rocket)...
Hope he does remember the stuff from before... and GET BACK PIDGEOT IN THIS SERIES!!!

I grew up with might morphin power rangers sailor moon and pokemon, and after 10 years of pokemon you'd think he wouldn't be 10 years old anymore, my issue isn't with the 600+ pokemon there are now (I remember the original 150(151 with mew even though mew came before mewtwo)) my problem is that none of the stories seem to connect at all. Basically every series of pokemon now (unlike the old one with brock and misty) is just the creators pressing reset on ashes life even though he's keeping pikachu and his personality, and his pokemon from regions ( read more)

Basically every series of pokemon now (unlike the old one with brock and misty) is just the creators pressing reset on ashes life even though he's keeping pikachu and his personality, and his pokemon from regions he couldn't of been to in a years time (logically) he gets a reset button yet doesn't lose anything and it doesn't make any sense. Pushing the show towards a game is just stupid in my opinion they should like the other person before me said, be showing how ash has matured, I would of loved to see a 16-18 year old ash as a pokemon trainer, hell maybe even a gym leader, this 10 year old bs has gotten old and is a major turn off of the series. I have played every single pokemon game up till diamond pearl and their little combination of both with the worm pokemon on it for ds, I've stopped because it's become so predictable and it's not entertaining anymore. Well there you have my two sense, the original is better in so many ways, but if you're 12 and just getting into pokemon this show could be for you but if you've sat through a good 6+ seasons of watching a character not develop at all then you'll be majorly turned off by this.
