Sola which I believe is actually sora=sky, prounced in japanese accent. Just looking at the title and watching the OP theme makes one think this is just a regular romance anime. Unfortunately, its not. The story starts off at a slow pace where the typical meeting between the boy n girl happens. However,as the story goes deeper, it begins to get twisted n tangled, n begins to unfold the dark side of the story. Only when you watch the whole series, then can you clear off the uncertainty that shrouded the complicated plot.
The action,romance,supernatural,drama genres are beautifully integrated into this single anime. All these elements make this anime marvelous. It has sufficient romance-drama which does not get too boring. Audience will love its brilliant animation. The story ends in the most preferred way, but in a sense that makes you feel like, "I just can't get over with it...". The major twist in the middle of the story is the main 'curiosity trigger'. How well the title fits the story is another reason to be considered of why this anime is absolutely wonderful. (show less)

My friends and I have a theory that all anime that are 13 episodes long have some sort of heartbreaking or infuriating ending. We have named it 'The Curse of the 13 Episode Long Anime'. Sola is no exception.
I found and AMV online of the anime and it looked promising. The style was attractive, the story looked interesting and the animation was good, so I was enticed into watching the anime. After all it's only a short little anime, right? You can't possibly get ridiculously attached to characters in that short space of time, right? WRONG.
Our story begins with a fairly generic anime boy. He's not got a very inspiring character but you can't complain about him as he's fairly agreeable. Generic anime boy meets short moe, tomato juice drinking, hat wearing anime girl kicking something (something all anime should begin with!) We also discover boy has a sister who looks nothing like him at all... but we'll let that slide. Boy rescues Hat Moe girl and they have a nice little time with on of the most adorable pairings EVER. Then episode 6 strikes and the plot-line arrives.
You see, episodes 1-6 the anime is some sort of romantic comedy and then becomes some horrific romance drama between Generic anime boy, Moe Hat girl and... Sister that shouldn't be boys sister?
Fortunately for us sane Otaku's it's more about sibling love not incest love which is good because... well... I'm not going to lie incest isn't cute. Knock it off you strange pro-incest fan-girls! (Although twincest is a different matter completely! P:)
The plot spirals into a depressing pit of darkness until the end and, of course, because you fell in love with the characters in episodes 1-6, you have to see it through till the bitter end.
Like I said the animation is very attractive if not a little simplistic at times. But not lazy. There isn't particularity much violence but when there is it is exciting and character designs and personality's are good.
The plot isn't particularity mind blowing but it makes a statement enough and is excellent considering it's such a short anime.
And the depressing ending? It's worth it. It's endearing and bitter-sweet not horrific and hearbreaking.
Over all it's a very enjoyable anime that is definitely worth watching! (show less)

Wonderful story, Wonderful characters and a Wonderful ending!
This anime has a very captive story that'll make tou truly adictive to it! Each episode is a total surprise, and it ends always with some "shocking" development :D it just made me watch more and more (really, i couldn't stop o.0 lol) You'll just love the story development. And it's really well made for only 13 epi. They have put it perfectly, with the few epi they had.

So i really~ suggest this anime to everyone!!! You'll also may drop a tear at the end ;)

PS: "sad" endings aren't that bad when the story is just overwhelming, right? ^.^ (show less)

I enjoyed this anime alot, It definately is not light hearted and happy all the time anime. It is however a very good anime, it does have very funny parts to it though. I personally think it has a great story that leaves you wanting to watch more at the end of the episode. The characters are great and again in my opinion they all have something you can relate to so its a good anime that you can connect to the characters and some of the situations. Some of the art you have to get used to but its not bad at all. Overall i loved this anime and thought it was great! Id suggest it if you liked anime like H20:footprints in the sand and myself;yourself. But thats just my opinion :) (show less)
