I feel like Legend of Korra lacked something in comparison to The Last Airbender. I feel like I didnt really connect to the characters and the story was moving a bit slow. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed watching and looking forward to season 2.

The story line is not bad, i liked the fact that Korra is a girl and that children and at least one member of the first "team Avator" were alive helped the new avator. The anime however lacked breath taking action and I thought the way the villain dead was too easy I had hoped there would be a final full on battle.

pros
+ more modern than the first season with some darker and some more mature themes (e.g. the ones being oppressed by the benders - or the background lovestory is rather complicated, like in real life)
+ more fluid animation than the first season
+ older (but still quirky) characters
cons
- it's short so there's not much in-depth story development (there are twists and turns but something truly deep... sigh)
- dialogue so is for kids...
- now that it's up here... it looks a bit like an odd hybrid of american cartoon and japanese anime. ( read more)

- now that it's up here... it looks a bit like an odd hybrid of american cartoon and japanese anime. sigh. took me a while to get into but i guess there's no helping that. once i got used to it, the animation seemed more fluid than in the first season though.
conclusion: worth the watch for those who liked avatar the last airbender, although it is fairly unrelated to that first season. i never was totally hyped about avatar, but this nonetheless is a good opportunity at nostalgia. good, though perhaps a little rushed story, good action once you get used to the fact it's not entirely cartoon anymore (the general style of cartoon and anime is fundamentally different, so it took me a moment to get into this slightly hybrid-looking thing), older characters, which is a plus as it makes for more realism... and childish dialogue. granted, that drags it down somewhat, but nonetheless it's a nice watch for fans of the old avatar.
whoever has something against female protagonists shouldn't watch. seeing a female heroine is a nice change of pace (and a chance for eye candy) after all of the usual male shounen heroes, but looking through the reviews, some people seem to have something against that. =.=
peace. ( show less)

First off, I'm fairly new to the world of Avatar, I was introduced to the first series by a friend and was instantly hooked. So, I love, love, LOVE, the first series. When I heard about Korra I was honestly really excited. After watching the first four episodes, I will agree that story wise and character likeability wise, it's a bit lacking in comparison. HOWEVER! I did enjoy the first two episodes quite a bit.
I think that Korra is an amazing protagonist and I'm not easily swayed by female main characters. The animation is mainly what hooked ( read more)

I think that Korra is an amazing protagonist and I'm not easily swayed by female main characters. The animation is mainly what hooked me to this series, the fight scenes and style are fun and a bit more "grown up" I guess is one way to put it. But anyway, if you're a fan of the series then I would recommend it but I wouldn't compare the two. The first had it's good and bad points and so does this one, to say that it's nothing like the first series is a good thing in my book. If it were the same as the first then I would go back and re-watch the first. Why would anybody want to watch the same thing?
In the end, basically don't knock it until you watch it for yourself. I think it's good and intend to keep watching. ( show less)

Like it or not, it's not as in-depth as the first season. This is done on purpose as it is a min-series.
The faster pace doesn't really allow the story to develop as well as it could, but just revisiting the world of Avatar was enough to interest me, and the display of how the world changed over time is nicely done.
The story involves a bunch of new characters that you have no real connection to, nor do they tie in with the previous seasons characters. This would be fine if it wasn't so contrary to the faster pace of the show. If they had ( read more)

If they had more time to develop the characters, or starred relatives of the first season, it may have made a better connection with fans of the show.
All in all it's one solid animation, fairly entertaining, and worth your time if you are a fan of Avatar.
If however the world of Avatar does not interest you, you're not missing out on much if you pass this one by. ( show less)

is a good story. Just lets you down to think that they set up a school for training and they did nothing to get the new avatar ready for the new times. come on relly she has power but did not get addjustmens for the times new fighting? she is older then the old avatar and I think he was better and yunger.
they should have made her a better fighter, or yunger to leave room for the understanding on why she fights the way she does.
