In the year 2015, the Angels, huge, tremendously powerful, alien war machines, appear in Tokyo for the second time. The only hope for Mankind`s survival lies in the Evangelion, a humanoid fighting machine developed by NERV, a special United Nations agency. Capable of withstanding anything the Angels can dish out, the Evangelion`s one drawback lies in the limited number of people able to pilot them. Only a handful of teenagers, all born fourteen years ago, nine months after the Angels first appeared, are able to interface with the Evangelion. One such teenager is Shinji Ikari, whose father heads the NERV team that developed and maintains the Evangelion. Thrust into a maelstrom of battle and events that he does not understand, Shinji is forced to plumb the depths of his own inner resources for the courage and strength to not only fight, but to survive, or risk losing everything. |

This is a great series. I have nothing bad to say except that the dialogue could have been a bit better in my opinion. This said, every other aspect of this series was excellent. You should really consider checking this out, there are great battle scenes and a bit of a twisted mentality at times; but on the other hand comedy and even a tad bit of fan service thrown out in the mix, if you like that kind of addition.
The overall story is pretty great for the end effect, and is paced in such a way that the amount of episodes seems pretty well ( read more)

The overall story is pretty great for the end effect, and is paced in such a way that the amount of episodes seems pretty well numbered at 26. There are a few movies too. Plus like 5 other episodes in a 2.2 release or something like that. I personally bought the Collectors Box Set which you can find similar to here...

Well that's it for me...thanks for reading. ( show less)

This is actually the first anime that I seriously got into and did it get me :). I couldn't put it down! My friend had to pry it away from me, although I resisted a lot. It's such a dramatic concept. I know it's not real and everything, but I think for 1995, it was brilliant. And I love the Evas. I feel like each has its own personality a little, even though I know they aren't "human" and only controlled. But Eva-02 I think is so Asuka, Eva-00 I can only see with Rei. And who doesn't like Touji, Kensuke, and especially Pen-Pen! I want a ( read more)

another anime legend. This one is really nice. you will just suddenly get into it without knowing why, it has a good way of attaching to its viewers. i dunno why. the downside is its ending. well, that's because of some financial reasons (from what i read over the net), but if you didn't watch well you missed something in the anime history.

Truly an anime classic, something everyone should see. This series has something for everyone, romance, action, and big-ass mechas (what's not to love).

Many of my friends have introduced me to this anime but when I first saw the drawings, I thought 'no.' But my friends just wouldn't stop bugging me and so I watched it. Now that I've gotten into it, I totally regret turning down my friend those times, 'cos this anime has a REALLY great story and is really thrilling. Not to mention the hot chicks :P This series is great for teen and anyone older

One of the best "deep" animes you will ever see, "Neon Genesis Evangelion" is an action packed, twisting-and-turning-in-your-seat, well thought out anime. Although the Angels and Eva's are not Mechas, it's still something a mecha fan would definitely want to watch. As for everyone though, you should watch it to be able to relate to the protagonist, Shinji. Haunted by his past and challenged by his future it's a story about not a battle between him and the Angels, but a battle between him and himself! 5/5! ^_^

Evangelion was one of the first anime i watched and it will always stay with me. It is a classic anime that i very much enjoyed. Ginax is one of my favorites and i cant wait for them to come out with the new movies over here(the fist one is already out and i own it). Its dialogue, animation, and decent story kept me entertained throughout the whole series. It is a must see to most anime fans and anyone who has watched any shows by Ginax such as Gunbuster 1 and 2 and Gurren Lagann!

This is the first anime I ever watched, the anime that got me into anime so to speak. This is a must see for anyone who loves mecha series but people who don't certainly can enjoy it too (I know because I'm one of those people) This series also isn't your typical mecha series either, as the story goes on, it has many deep, philosophical twists and turns that will really get you thinking. This series definatly isn't for someone who is looking for something fluffy or light hearted. It is very dark and at times depressing and focuses a lot on the nature ( read more)

This series definatly isn't for someone who is looking for something fluffy or light hearted. It is very dark and at times depressing and focuses a lot on the nature of humankind. Also, it is one of those that might be difficult to understand the first time you watch it wich in my opinion is a great thing because you learn something new each time you watch the series. I have watched this series over and over and I still figure out new theories each time. Basically anyone who likes anime that really makes you think will love this one. ( show less)

There have been a lot of slanders about this anime all which I believe to be false, the evengelion series is by far the most mentally intensive watch that anime can offer, with the very deep characters mingling together each with there own very unique back in stories, that alone would be the basis for a good anime, but eva boosted it one more step by adding the intricacies of the question "What is the human heart" and exploring them though the characters involved. It is true the story line takes a back seat in some character development, but it ( read more)

It is true the story line takes a back seat in some character development, but it is all for the enrichment of the final few episodes which strings this master piece together wonderfully and answers that great age old question "Who is your enemy really?"
